I have been doing some dreaming lately. Mainly because it is so cold outside I try to think of warmer places, and because my classes have been cancelled so much these days. As I think about moving to a new city and settling in to our new home, the future seems so bright. I cannot wait to see how I grow as an artist and where photography takes me. Here are a few things on my photography “bucket list” that I cannot wait to make happen: shoot a barn reception, shoot a snowy engagement, snap some in-home newborn photos, capture an anniversary shoot for a couple that has been in love for years, photograph a ceremony under an oak tree, shoot a sailing engagement session, shoot a portrait session with a hot air balloon, snap some family portraits on a foggy morning, and capture a surprise proposal. Some of these dreams are already in the works for this year, but if you can help any of my dreams come true, let me know. I would love to work with you! As I reflect on this year, I am overwhelmed with gratefulness. Grateful for the incredible friends and family who have encouraged me. Grateful for the incredible photographers who have mentored me. Grateful for a husband who showers me with so much love. And grateful for a Savior who has blessed me beyond anything I could ever imagine. Here are a few of my favorite images from the past year. I cannot wait to see what is in store for 2014.Coors family, you are all so beautiful. I loved capturing your joy and can’t wait for next year when there will be another addition to your lovely family.
Andy and Becky, you two are so adorable. I love your hearts and your smiles. I am honored to call you both my friends and family.
Amber, thank you so much for joining me on the hottest day of the summer. You have such style, and I can’t wait to see where photography takes you.
Huge thank you to Lukas and Suzy for inviting me along for this gorgeous Kentucky wedding. The details were straight out of a magazine.
I spent several summer days with this sweet girl and her big sisters. Brought back sweet memories of growing up with my two sisters.
This wedding was photographed with the lovely Darlene. I can’t thank you enough for all that you have taught me.
This boy. There are no words to describe how thankful I am to call you my husband.Matt and Arielle, it was so good to catch up with you. I can’t wait to capture your upcoming wedding.I was thrilled to finally meet Caitlin and help her with this Irish wedding. She is such a sweetheart.
These kids make me laugh so much. Newman family, I love you all. Thank you again for inviting me to spend an evening with you.Megan has a huge heart and was great to work with on this fall wedding. I am looking forward to second shooting for her more this year.Eric and Lauren, you two are perfect together. I loved making your vision a reality, and I can’t wait to see how beautiful your wedding will be.This photo was from my first solo wedding. Courtney and Stephen, thank you so much for asking me to be a part of your day. It was beyond beautiful, and I am honored to call you my friends. And a huge thank you to my second shooter, Todd, who also happens to be my handsome husband. Lastly, this is my sister. She is beautiful inside and out, and I am so proud of all that she has done this year. Ashten is heading to Australia next week. Ash, I will miss you a ton, but I can’t wait to hear about your incredible adventures.
A couple of weeks ago, we had the pleasure of watching these two. I’ll admit, their barking in the middle of the night was not ideal, but getting knocked down when you come home because they are so darn happy to see you makes it all worth it. Kaiser, the handsome one on the right, belongs to my in-laws. He weighs more than me but is just a giant teddy bear. Breeze, the cutie on the left, is ours. She doesn’t live with us now (boo on apartments that won’t allow cute puppies), but we can’t wait to bring her with us when we get our own place someday.
There is something about dogs that wipes away every stressful event of the day. They don’t care if you’re perfect, or whether you checked everything off your to-do list. They just pour out their love, sometimes in the form of slobbery kisses, every single day. I think there is much we can learn from these furry friends. Run hard. Always make time for play. And cuddle like it’s the last chance you’ll get. Life is short. And I think it should be spent with big dogs by your side.
We might have treated them with ice cream…twice. If we spoil our dogs this much, I can only imagine how bad it will get when we have kids. They are just so adorable!
